Getting started
Talkli has two sides: therapists who document and assign practice, and families who continue that work at home. Both use the same app at talkli.ai/app.
Everyone
Create your account
- Go to talkli.ai/app and choose Create account.
- Pick Parent / Guardian or Speech Therapist.
- Enter your name, email, and a password. Therapists also add a practice name and accept the professional agreement.
- Open the confirmation email we send, then come back and sign in.
If your therapist already invited you, use the link in that email instead. It creates your account and connects you in one step.
Families
Join with a therapist invite
- Open the Talkli email from your therapist, or use the invite link they texted you.
- Create your free account (or sign in if you already have one).
- You will land on Home, connected to your child’s profile.
Already signed up? On Home, tap I have a therapist code and enter the short join code your therapist can read to you.
Everyone
Reset your password
- On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password?
- Enter the email you used for Talkli.
- Open the reset email and choose a new password.
For families
Talkli is built for the stretch between appointments. A few minutes of practice is enough. You do not need clinical training.
Families
Practice at home
- On Home, open your child’s card and tap Start Practice.
- Start with This week if your therapist pinned games. You can still pick any other game that matches the goal.
- You and your child share one phone or tablet. They look at the big prompt. You score at the bottom.
- Sound games (word practice, minimal pairs, Echo, Word Builder, and others): tap Got it or Not yet.
- Language games (Follow That, Odd One Out, What’s Wrong, Describe It): tap Followed, Needed help, or Missed.
Five focused minutes beats a long, frustrated session. If your child is tired, stop and try again later. Nothing is graded by a robot — you are the scorer.
Families
Read session notes
When your therapist publishes a note, it appears on your child’s profile. Open it to see what they worked on, what to practice, and any games they pinned for This week. You will also get an email when a new note is shared.
Families
See progress
Open Progress in the menu. Sound goals show how clearly the target was produced. Language goals show a session score — followed, needed help, or missed — not a phoneme chart. Use it to notice small wins, not as a test.
Families
Ask the AI assistant
Open AI, choose your child, and ask a question in everyday language — for example, “What should we practice this week?” Answers are grounded in the profile and goals your therapist has shared. The assistant does not replace your SLP.
Families
Find a therapist
If you do not have an SLP yet, open Find SLP and search by location, specialty, insurance, or telehealth. You can message a therapist from their listing. Getting listed is optional for therapists and does not change care for families already connected.
Families
Add a child without a code
Most families start from a therapist invite. If you do not have a code yet, tap Add child myself on Home. When your therapist is ready, they can send an invite, or you can enter their join code to connect the profile.
For therapists
Talkli is meant to fit into the time you already spend on notes — not add a second documentation system.
Therapists
Add a client
- From Clients, tap Add client.
- Enter the child’s name and the details you need for notes and goals.
- Invite the family next so they can see notes and practice at home.
Therapists
Invite a family
- Tap Invite family from Clients or from the child’s profile.
- Enter the parent’s email and send. Talkli emails them a link.
- A join code also appears so you can read it out on the phone if the email is delayed.
You can copy the invite link and send it by text if that is easier for the family.
Therapists
Write and share a session note
- Open the client and start a new session note.
- Record what you worked on, goals, home practice, games to play this week, and billing codes as needed.
- Tap Share with family when the note is ready. Parents see a family-facing version and get an email.
A note can stay on your side until you share it. Sharing is what puts it in the parent’s pocket.
Therapists
Set and track goals
On the child’s profile, add goals by domain (articulation, language, fluency, and others). Home practice logs sound accuracy or a language rubric, and Progress keeps those on separate charts. Fluency home practice is not in the lobby yet.
Therapists
Pin games for This week
On the child’s profile, use Home practice to pin games. You can also pin them on a session note next to family guidance. Those games float to the top of the family’s practice lobby. Families can still pick any other matching game — pinning does not lock the library.
Therapists
Write an evaluation
Evaluations live on the child’s profile. Complete the sections, add recommended goals, then share with the family when ready. Shared evaluations also email the parent. Evaluations are part of Talkli Solo.
Therapists
Schedule a session
From Clients, tap Schedule to add an upcoming appointment and keep the caseload view current. Scheduling in Talkli does not replace your calendar unless you choose to use it that way.
Therapists
Set up your public profile
Open My Profile to add credentials, specialties, ages served, and whether you are listed in the directory. A public listing helps new families find you. Directory listing is included with Talkli Solo.
Therapists
Talkli Solo
You can start free — add clients, write notes, and invite families with no card required. Solo is $19/month or $190/year and unlocks evaluations, AI practice content, and a public directory listing. Upgrade from the pill in the header or from My Profile. Manage or cancel anytime from the same place.
Billing & superbills
Invoices and superbills are different documents. An invoice is how a family pays you. A superbill is what they may submit to insurance for out-of-network reimbursement.
Families
Pay a session invoice
Unpaid invoices show on Home. What you do next depends on how your therapist collects payment for that child:
- Card: tap Pay and complete checkout in Talkli. You will get a receipt when it succeeds.
- External: pay the way you already arranged — Step Up, check, cash, or Venmo. Your therapist marks the invoice paid after they receive it.
You can always tap the eye icon to view or print the invoice.
Families
Sign a superbill
- Open the superbill from Home or your child’s profile when your therapist shares it.
- Review the visit details, then sign with your finger or mouse.
- Submit the signed superbill to your insurance company using their out-of-network process. Talkli does not file claims for you.
Therapists
Collect card payments
- On My Profile, open Session billing and tap Connect payouts.
- Finish Stripe Express onboarding so payouts can go to your practice bank account.
- On each child, set Session payment to card if that family pays in Talkli.
- After a session note, send an invoice. The family pays by card; the visit amount you set is what they see.
Stripe processing plus a 1% Talkli fee (minimum $0.50) comes out of your payout — families are not charged an extra Talkli fee. Card collection is optional.
Therapists
Invoice families who pay outside Talkli
- On the child’s profile, set Session payment to External.
- Send the invoice from the session note as usual.
- When Step Up, a check, cash, or Venmo arrives, mark the invoice paid and add a reference if you want one.
External invoices have no Talkli platform fee. You do not need Connect payouts for this path.
Therapists
Create a superbill
From the session or child’s billing tools, generate a superbill with your NPI, practice details, CPT, and diagnosis codes. Sign it, then share it so the parent can counter-sign. Keep invoices and superbills as separate documents — one is payment, the other is reimbursement paperwork.
Account & privacy
Speech therapy involves children and families. Access is role-based: therapists see their caseload, parents see their children.
Everyone
Who can see my child’s information?
A parent sees the children on their account. A therapist sees only the clients connected to them. We do not sell user data. For the legal detail, read the Privacy Policy and HIPAA Notice.

Common questions
Quick answers. If yours is missing, write us — we read every message.
Is Talkli free for families?
Yes. Talkli is always free for parents and caregivers. Therapists may subscribe to Talkli Solo for extra clinical tools. That does not add a family subscription.
How much is Talkli for therapists?
Free to start, with no card required. Talkli Solo is $19/month or $190/year and unlocks evaluations, AI practice content, and a public directory listing.
What is the difference between an invoice and a superbill?
An invoice is the bill for the session — card in Talkli, or Step Up / check / cash / Venmo outside it. A superbill is a signed clinical document a family can send to insurance for out-of-network reimbursement. Talkli keeps them separate on purpose.
I did not get the email.
Check spam and promotions for messages from Talkli (hello@talkli.ai or helpdesk@talkli.ai). For signup, use Resend confirmation on the “Check your email” screen. For invites, ask your therapist for the join code — it works without the email.
I signed up as the wrong role.
Parent and therapist accounts are different. Email support@talkli.ai from the address you used and we will help you get onto the right side without losing the connection you already made.
Is there an iPhone or Android app?
Talkli runs in the browser on phones and computers. On a phone, open talkli.ai/app and add it to your home screen if you want an icon. A native store app is not required.
